From November 30 to December 3, by the invitation of Mekong Institute (MI), Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation (SFIEC), together with The Belt and Road Research Institute (Shenzhen) for International Cooperation and Development (BRRI), invited experts and entrepreneurs to deliver online modular training on “Capacity Building for Regional Economic Integration and Innovation for Free Trade Zone (FTZ) Development in the Lancang-Mekong Region”. 35 participants, mainly government staffers and some academics from China, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam participated in the training.
Three trainers from China Development Institute, China Center for Special Economic Zone Research Center, BRRI and one entrepreneur from HCIT.ai shared knowledge on selected topics, including “China’s Experience of FTZs (Shenzhen Qianhai Zone as Example)”, “FTZ as a Lever for Boosting Technological Skills and the Emerging Trends – from Traditional/Classical Zones to Multi Sectoral Development Approach”, “Impact of e-economy wave on FTZ” and so on. During the training, trainers and participants also discussed opportunities and challenges faced by each country and region in developing FTZs and special economic zones (SEZs).
This training is the second partnership activity of MI, SFIEC and BRRI since August 2020, with more initiatives forthcoming to enhance capacities of Lancang-Mekong nationals in advancing economic development in the region.
Over the past two years, SFIEC has been devoted to promoting Lancang-Mekong regional development through its flagship project SEZs Experience Sharing and Mekong River Solar Village. To know more about these, click on:
