On October 15,
the “Diverse Culture Experience” was hosted
by Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation(SFIEC)
came to a successful close.
This cross-regional cultural dialogue beautifully merged
the tranquility of the
Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with the vibrant,
international spirit of Shenzhen,
adding a colorful chapter to
the city’s story of multicultural exchange.
Immersive Encounters:
From the Plateau to the City
Young people from the Greater Bay Area with roots in the plateau
shared their culture and traditions
through immersive
“show-and-experience” activities—
from butter tea making
and Thangka painting
to meditation and Lhoba handicrafts.
Together,
they guided dozens of
local and international participants
through a journey of discovery into
the heart of plateau culture.
Finding Stillness:
Meditation and Eastern Wisdom
Under the guidance of instructor
Silaung Jiangcuo,
the meditation session offered a peaceful retreat
amid the city’s bustle.
Nazir Nayab,
a student from Pakistan, shared:
“When I closed my eyes and
heard the gentle chime,
I felt as if I were truly on
the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
The soft candlelight and calm atmosphere helped me
understand the Chinese idea of inner balance—
and reminded me that even in fast-paced Shenzhen,
peace can still be found.”
Another international participant,
Fatima Nida,
added that this unique experience deepened her curiosity
and appreciation
for traditional Chinese culture.

The Art of Heritage: Experiencing the Warmth of Tradition
During the Thangka painting session,
master artist Jamba Siren
demonstrated his meticulous craftsmanship—
embodying the spirit of “ingenuity” that
lies at the core of Chinese artistry.
Young participants, both Chinese and international,
observed and painted alongside him,
expressing admiration for the precision and
devotion behind every stroke.
Li Peiying, a student from Shenzhen Polytechnic University,
shared:
“It’s more than just painting—
it’s a spiritual expression that reveals the
depth and beauty of traditional Chinese art.”

A Taste of Warmth: Butter Tea and Shared Smiles
The butter tea tasting became one of the evening’s warmest memories.
Plateau native Quyong Zhuoma
demonstrated the traditional
“hand-churn” technique,
teaching participants
how to brew authentic butter tea.
Beyond tasting,
guests experienced the genuine hospitality
deeply rooted in Chinese tea culture.
Nazir added with a smile:
“This tea reminded me of
my hometown’s milk tea.
It showed me how cultures can connect
through shared warmth and hospitality.”

The participants listened attentively
as they learned about the culture of the Luoba ethnic group.
When they felt the texture of the traditional woven fabrics,
they exclaimed,
“These cultural and creative works
carry the legacy of our ethnic culture.
Through their intricate patterns,
they connect people’s hearts and convey
the unique ‘cultural code’ of the Luoba people.”

Though the Traditional Culture
Experience Season has drawn to a close,
the seeds of cultural understanding it planted continue to grow among local
and international youth.
This experience-driven approach offers
a new path for fostering authentic cultural exchange.
Looking ahead,
SFIEC will continue to host more activities
that bridge understanding
between young people in Shenzhen and around the world—
amplifying the voices of the Greater Bay Area on the global stage.
